- I contacted CSA directly after I had purchased my Derringer 030/25 the day
- the purchase of the Amiga by Escom was finalized. I called regarding the
- major speed decrease when I accessed my Hard Drive through the 030 vs the
- 000. They said that this has to do with swapping small chunks of data or
- some such thing and can't be worked around. I went from about 900k/sec to
- 450k/sec, losing roughly 1/2 my performance when using the faster CPU.
- They said that until the OS was modified to allow greater than 64k chunks,
- that this would be a problem. What 'specifically' needs to be modified in
- the OS I didn't quite understand.
-
- Also, you may want to see how new of ROMs you have on your SCSI controller.
- If its a A2091, an old ROM that was made prior to 030's being available may
- not like trying to use the 030 and may be the cause for your crashes and
- black screens. I didn't have this problem and I have I believe its either
- Rev. 5 or Rev. 6 ROM on my A2091. Take Care!
